The Digital Medicine Society (DiMe) Announces New Partnership with JMIR Publications

New partnership brings leading publication and professional society together in the digital health and medicine space

BOSTON, May 11, 2021: The Digital Medicine Society (DiMe) and JMIR Publications today announced a new partnership to support greater publication and dissemination of digital medicine evidence. JMIR Publications is the leading scholarly publisher of more than 30 academic digital health journal titles, such as the Journal of Medical Internet Research, JMIR mHealth and uHealth, and JMIR Medical Informatics, and is disseminating cutting-edge research in this burgeoning field. Together, the two organizations will drive an increase in the peer-reviewed evidence base in digital medicine and support promotion and broader readership of digital medicine literature to enhance practitioner knowledge.

“Partnering with JMIR Publications’ diverse portfolio of publications provides DiMe with another powerful avenue to share the outputs of our research, underscore that digital medicine is an evidence-based field, and gives DiMe members additional benefits when publishing their research with this leader in the field of digital health and medicine,” says Jennifer Goldsack, Executive Director at Digital Medicine Society. “One of the great challenges we face in Digital Medicine is silos in work where lack of sharing leads to duplicative efforts. Our partnership with JMIR Publications supports DiMe’s ultimate goal of communicating and integrating the outputs of our work across the ecosystem.”

DiMe and JMIR Publications will collaborate in this partnership:

  • Share educational content pertaining to digital health, open science, and other relevant educational tools
  • Organization and participate in conferences and events including, webinars and seminars with expert support about current research, emerging trends, and other resources
  • Curated content and topics for DiMe Journal Clubs
  • Co-develop special theme issues for selected JMIR journals
  • Support of DiMe members through generous publication discounts and knowledge translation services and support.

“We are thrilled to be collaborating with such a forward-thinking partner like DiMe. Despite numerous advances in digital medicine and digital health over these past several years, there is yet an urgent need to disseminate and translate robust scientific evidence to a wider network of professionals, scientists, and citizens, so that we are better aligned to accelerate progress in this dynamic field,” says Gunther Eysenbach, Chief Executive Officer and Executive Editor at JMIR Publications. “For more than 20 years, JMIR has been committed not only to improving the rigor and utility of science but also to pushing the boundaries of open and transparent collaborations that serve professionals and policy makers as much as the research community.”
